May 2nd Update

This week I finally got around to doing something I’ve intended for a while – Tutorials.

I really like the idea of people trying to make their own virtual date games, so I’ve put together a short course of five different segments. You can find part one on the new tutorials page : http://www.vdategames.com/tutorial.html

I’ll try and update them every week over the next month with the next part. As the first tutorial states, the different segments will be the following.

1 : Introduction & images
2 : Planning
3 : Advanced images
4 : Coding
5 : Things to think about

Part 1 gives a basic introduction to the different softwares involved and guides you through what’s needed to create your first image.

I’ll add a link to the blog with each section. If you try them and get stuck, leave a comment here and I’ll try to help you out.

Hopefully, anyone who manages to get through all five will end up with all they need to make their own games.

  1. Thank you so much, I have wanted to make a game for a long time but didn’t really know where to start. I really appreciate all the hard work you do, looking forward to the new game.

  2. hope to see some new games in this genre soon. I’ve been collaborating on one since September (I’m the writer/programmer, he’s the artist) using tlaero’s AdventureCreator engine so I know it’s pretty tough to make it all work. So hope someone finds your tutorials useful enough to make more.

And if anyone cares about my WIP, it is finally in the ending stages, we just need to work on the end/sex scene now in terms of images. Then, proofreading/ checking variables. Oh joy.

    1. Cool.

Something I was going to add to the tutorials was an offer of publishing games when finished. If you need somewhere to host it, I’d be happy to have it on VDG.

I’m also assuming you are releasing it for free. I’d also be willing to have it as part of the members section if you’re interested in making money off it.

Feel free to email me at chaotic@vdategames.com if you want to discuss the details in private.

      1. Thanks for the offer, but my partner’s already bought a domain and we’re sitting up our own site for our own games. Thanks, though
